breathing

Breathing takes oxygen in and carbon dioxide out of the body. Aerobic organisms require oxygen to create energy via respiration, in the form of energy-rich molecules such as glucose. The medical term for normal relaxed breathing is eupnea.

Mechanics

In mammals, breathing in, or inhaling, is usually an active movement, with the contraction of the diaphragm muscles needed. This is known as negative pressure breathing. The diaphragm’s normal relaxed position is that of a recoiled one (decreasing the thoracic volume) whereas in the contracted position it is pulled downwards (increasing the thoracic volume). Relaxation of the diaphragm compresses the lungs, effectively decreasing their volume while increasing the pressure inside them. With a pathway to the mouth or nose clear, this increased pressure forces air out of the lungs by diffusion. Conversely, contraction of the diagraphm increases the volume of the (partially empty) lungs, decreasing the pressure inside, which creates a partial vacuum. Environmental air then follows its concentration gradient down to fill the lungs.

In amphibians, the process used is positive pressure breathing. Muscles lower the floor of the oral cavity, enlarging it and drawing in air through the nostrils (which uses the same mechanics - pressure, volume, and diffusion - as a mammalian lung). With the nostrils and mouth closed, the floor of the oral cavity is forced up, which forces air down the trachea into the lungs.

At rest, breathing out, or exhaling, is a combination of passive and active processes powered by the elastic recoil of the alveoli, similar to a deflating balloon, and the contraction of the muscular body wall. The following organs are used in respiration: the mouth; the nose and nostrils; the pharynx; the larynx; the trachea; the bronchi and bronchioles; the lungs; the diaphragm; and the terminal branches of the respiratory tree, such as the alveoli.

Gas exchange

Breathing is only part of the processes of delivering oxygen to where it is needed in the body and removing carbon dioxide waste. The process of gas exchange occurs in the alveoli by passive diffusion of gases between the alveolar gas and the blood passing by in the lung capillaries. Once in the blood the heart powers the flow of dissolved gases around the body in the circulation.

As well as carbon dioxide, breathing also results in loss of water from the body. Exhaled air has a relative humidity of 100% because of water diffusing across the moist surface of breathing passages and alveoli

blood

Bllod is a thick, red liquid that carries oxygen and ffod to every part of our body. It also collects waste and takes it to the places that can get rid of it. Special cells in our body fight germs and help to repair our body when we get hurt. Our blood is pumped through our body by our heart. Blood flows into our heart before each beat, when our heart squeezes it out to continue its journey.

Red or Blue?
Red blood cells carry oxygen collected from our lungs to the parts of our body that need it. When they have delivered the oxygen, the cells turn blue. Outside the body, our blood always looks red. beacuse the cells turns red as soon as they touch the oxygen in air.

Heart
Your heart is about the same size as your fist. It is made of strong muscle, which pushes almost 10 pints of blood through our blood vessels every minute.

Arteries
Our arteries are vessels which carry blood away from our heart to the rest of our body.

The veins carry blood back to our heart. Sometimes they show through our skin as bluish lines. We may be able to see them inside our elbow or wrist. Our arteries are deeper down in our body that our veins.

Veins
Our veins are vessels which carry blood back to our heart from every part of our body.

Feel the beat
In some parts of our body, we can feel the arteries that carry our blood beating time with our heart. This is called pulse. QWe can usually feel it inside our wrist or neck. Actually we have lots of pulse in our body…

Babies and toddlers

All people starts life as babies. You can think of babies as tiny people who are new to the world. Although they need older people to take care of them, they are aware of many things, such as who is holding them. As babies grows, they get better at letting others know what they need and understand more of what happens around them.

How people are different and the same

Human being have many different sizes and shapes. we also have a variety of colors of hair, eyes, and skin. No two people areexactly the same. With all the billions of people in the world, there is no one who has the same fingerprints that you do. Even identical twins, who may have the same hair, eye, and skin color have different finger prints, thoughts, memories, and habits.

It was month of May when we had our first youth camp in our church held at Hope Mountain Calinan. It was three days and two nights camping (May 27-29, 2002). Our youth camp was headed by our youth Pastor Mr. Dwight Salig. We had our visitors came from different places in
Mindanao. With the help of Gods Holy Spirit we had our youth camp peacefully.

school again!

After our youth camp, I was preparing for my incoming second year in school. That time I was not anymore nervous and afraid because some students were already my friends. One morning I was alone to go to school. The high school building was not yet finished so they place the students at the college building on the fourth floor. Of course there are also new students. I belonged to the section Nago. At first my classmates and I expect that out teacher will be Ms. Hazel Licong but one of our classmates told us that she was not the adviser of section Nago. A lady came to us and said make your line straight, a young pretty lady, she was going to be our teacher. Her name is Miss Nancy Ibarra Joyno. At first I thought she is stick because of her face and on how she talked to us.The first day of school (2002 sophomore) the class was very noisy. Each of us introduced ourselves to everyone. As the days went by, we knew each one of us. We knew who were the silent type, moody type and those noisy types. We were too close with each other, and it made a strong bonding. We ate our lunch together, did our projects or assignments together and play together. After our last subject in the morning we immediately proceeded to the terrace (2nd floor) to eat our lunch and went to the house of our classmate Donnavie Dannac to rest (sleep) for a while or play computer games and video okey for a while. 12:55 we started to leave the house of Donnavie to go to school. Sometimes after we ate our lunch at the terrace, we play PATENTERO Patentero was the most favorite game of Nago (2203-2004) sometimes Maam Nancy joined us in playing patentero. If we had our half day class all of us go to tigatto in the house of our classmate Maika Chan Layon. There we play madyong (without the involvement of money) or watch movie and eat.

Love letters Tips

“…Would I, if I could, supplant one of any of the affections that I know to have taken root in you - that great and solemn one, for instance? I feel that if I could get myself remade, as if turned to gold, I WOULD not even then desire to become more than the mere setting to that diamond you must always wear.
The regard and esteem you now give me, in this letter, and which I press to my heart and bow my head upon, is all I can take and all too embarrassing, using all my gratitude.”

This is an extract from a love letter written by Robert Browning to Elizabeth Barrett Browning. In today’s fast pace world where love messages are conveyed through mobile phones and e-cards we may be sometimes asking ourselves a question. Have we lost our emotional powers to write wonderful love letters to our beloved to melt her heart? May be or may not be, but whatever it may be let us try to learn a few tips on how to write a beautiful love letter.
We must remember that a love letter can bring out our deepest emotions and we need to be careful as to how we put it across to our lover. A woman is God’s most beautiful creation. She is tender and she would love to read a letter, which touches her heart. Remember that a mirror once broken can be glued but the crack remains eternally. When you are writing a love letter remember never to use any words or sentence, which may cause even a hairline crack in her heart. She may be kind enough to read it but the feeling of any strong words may make her sad.

Always remember never to portray your image as someone of high status or value. She will connect with a person only from the heart and not anything else. Tell her that you love her for what she is and plead her if she can love you for what you are. A love letter is all about bringing out your emotions. Tell her what you felt when you saw her the first time and then again and again and again. How you waited for her when she got down from the bus. How the glances you’ll shared conveyed a million unspoken words. How the silent tear drops that flowed from your eyes have never gone to waste.

Start the letter with a very touching line. If you are writing a letter for a first time you can start by writing the name of your beloved. This can immediately connect both of you on a friendly note rather than be too romantic. Sometimes over romanticism can kill. The body of the letter should flow from the day you saw her and how your feeling developed over time and today what makes you write the letter. Don’t forget to tell her that you see in her your picture perfect lady with whom you want to spend of your life with.

If you are writing a letter to your beloved with whom you are having a relationship for sometime tell her that how you have fallen in Love with her over and over again. Mention to her that whatever she has given you have made you where you stand today. Mention how much indebted you are to her and what your life will be without her. Last but not the least tell her that you will always have your shoulders for her whenever she needs them and you will hold her hands eternally.

Writing a love letter to your wife is a great symbolism of love that you have for her even after years of marriage. The beautiful kids that she has given you or the support that she has given you all along during your ups and downs in life.

When you are ending a love letter end with a line that summarizes your feelings for her. Something like Love always, yours forever can make an impression that she will never forget.

A love letter is cherished for life by someone. Hence dip it with emotions and never try to be diplomatic in your language.

Likes and Dislikes

As the days passed by, I found out my likes and dislikes. I love singing and dancing especially in praising the Lord, listening Christian music, playing badminton, reading books that makes my spirit strong in the Lord like Bible. I choose blue as my favorite color. Through I am skinny I am interested in different Filipino delicacies, it satisfies me. It is very important for me to choose who are going to be my friends. Friends who are not plastic, in times of needs they are willing to help and most of all not bad influences and who are God fearing people. Honestly speaking when I was a freshman in my secondary education at Philippine Nikkie Jin Kai I had a teacher, I really didnt like him because he always gave HARD and EXPENSIVE projects. What subject???? T.L.E I am interested with the subject but the teacher no! Thanks! October 2001 came; Teachers and students are very busy, busy preparing for the incoming intramurals. Prep students up to high school students are equally divided into four groups. Unit one (red), unit two (blue), and unit three (apple green), and unit four (golden yellow). I belonged to unit one. Many games and contest like cheer dance, singing, dancing, speech contest, essay writing, badminton, volleyball, basketball and many more. Our intramurals was very interesting although we had it during our intermediate years but I did not enjoy having it. Five months later, I finished my first year in high school. Of course with the help of our Almighty God and the support of my parents. I was so excited to face summer again. I want to go to Canayugan to see my grandparents (fathers side). They are Lita and Lope Prosia. After two weeks of staying at the province of my father, we decided to go back home.

Highschool Life

As the Lord blessed us, I am very thankful and fortunate that my parents enrolled me at Philippine Nikkie Jin Kai School of Davao for my secondary education. As I face another level in my life, there are so many things which were so confusing. I kept on thinking of what would happen to me, When I entered high school maybe I can find new friends, on how they will treat me because I came from a public school. One morning I woke up with full of excitement. I cant wait to see my new school!!! When I first enter Philippines Nikkie Jin Kai, I am so nervous. I didnt know what I am going to do. Thank God my mother was there to help me find my classroom. I belonged to section
Kobe. I entered the classroom silently and sat on the vacant chair in front. The classroom was so noisy. Suddenly three girls came to me. Namely Lasyl Dane Lintua, Adelfa Sumalinog and Gina Siason. We became friends. Meanwhile our teacher stepped into our classroom, introduced herself, I really like the way she taught us, she also shared Bible stories like the story of Daniel, Moses, David and other charters in the Bible. She also gave us some advises or tips whenever we had some problems.
